I'm going to preface this buy saying that I have never played EQ or any other MMORPG. Also, I really like EVE. So draw from that what you will.

10/26 - Well, I downloaded the game from Sony after getting my beta email and got ready to play the game. By the time I registered my Station name, and finished an essay that I actually made myself finish, I was ready to play the game. Then, oops, I had to download over 2 gigabytes of updates.

10/27 - Okay, it finished downloading. Go me. Now it's time to play the game. I was actually a bit excited because I had kind of enjoyed the game I had a chance to play at E3. Granted, my machine is not nearly as good as the machines they used at E3, but it's still a sweet machine. I made a character, one of those lizard guys because Rihk won't shut up about them. And I must say, my character looks pretty mean and threatening, especially because he has a big, green tail. Well, I jumped in the game and ... it sucks. Let me clarify here. My computer sucks. Four years ago, this GHz machine with 256 MB of RD RAM was oh so sweet. Counter-strike looked AWESOME! But with EQII? Holy primary colors Batman. If I could post a picture of it, I would. Maybe I can, I'll check. But my goodness, my comptuer just can not handle the game. It runs decently well, but I found myself thinking that the starting boat didn't have stairs in the beta build until I realized that it was not a wall of black but a set of stairs. Granted, I only played the game for like 30 minutes, just long enough to kill a rat, a goblin, and some sort of STD on the beach. It started lagging a bit in the city and I realized that I was late for my Organic Chemistry lab (again), so I had to stop. If I have time this weekend, I'll log some more time in and complain some more about that game.

So it sucks because your machine can't run it?

Wow, nice critique. I extend a warm thanks from all the people that were interested in such an intelligent analysis.

That's your main problem right there. The game's recomended minimum RAM is 512... there's a reason for that, you know. Wink

Well of course he's a moderator... he won't be able to play the game with that piece of crap, so he can spend all his times on the forums...

Try reading it. That might help you avoid making stupid comments.

Pale, I know.

And yes Ilowen, as in 1. I didn't even apply for beta, they just throw stuff at me.

Ah ok then I retract my anger, I had thought you were taking the potential spot of someone else but if they gave you a spot as a mod...

even if they did give it to you... and you knew you couldn't run it.. thats all good. But what compelled you to tell us all about it? Do any of us care about your lack of current technology or your tardiness to Chemistry? I sure don't.

and this part kills me..

You could mod this site on a 486 66 Mhz with 128 megs RAM and a 1 meg integrated video card Wink As long as you have a decent ISP....

All you need is Windows 95 and IE6.

And yeah the moderators got in beta.. 2 weeks pre-release... 40,000 people got in before us... I think Pheonix was being sarcastic when he said they "threw" stuff at him... I worked really hard to get in 40,000 people late....

Actually I think it is odd they did not give you guys beta first. Would sure have made you more effective on the boards.

Yeah I thought so too... they waited so long I don't really have time to help Onyx make like equipment databases and other things that are expected of a site this size and caliber.

I mean seriously how many piece of equipment can I find in 2 weeks? I just got off newbie island.... How many spells can I try? How many monsters can I fight? How many maps can I make? Not much... all I really have time for is my Beta Logs.... Anything else I start right now would be so incomplete it would be worthless anyway.
