Interesting you would bring that up. The team's been having discussions about this very topic. Wink

Some of us like being able to load up the game and have the commands be exactly what they were in EQ. Others of us prefer commands that are more in line with standards established in other games (keep in mind we're trying to appeal to players who might never have played EQ before).

The default will probably be a combination of the two. I mean, we want to get away from the A=autoattack thing, because that gets new players killed needlessly. But a lot of the commands will be the same as they were in EQ, because most of them are quite logical.

However, we will have keyboard mapping options so that you can assign commands to whatever keys you want, and will most likely include an "EQ" option where you select that layout and all the commands work the same as in EverQuest.

I seriously doubt anyone who plays EQ still uses the 'A' key for attack.

In a stunningly brilliant move that is sure to win us award after award, autoattack in EQ2 is *not* mapped to the A key by default.

[pauses for applause]

That feature alone makes EQ2 worth buying. Two copies, even!

Voice chat is not built into the game, but we have no policy against it.

We will have hotkeys like in EQLive, but don't plan to have any kind of more extensive macroing that automates gameplay.

There is a command for crouching. We don't currently have the proper animations in, but they will be added.

To be clear: we will NOT have voice commands or chat integrated into the game. You will need to use third party software for any kind of voice chat.

As is bound to happen sometimes in spoken interviews, Andy was misquoted a bit. We will wait until the interview series concludes to post a full list of corrections, but I wanted to point this one out now.
