Maybe it's my Minnesota upbringing (we're all about politeness, you know), but my personal opinion is that an individual's personal freedoms end where they start to infringe upon the freedoms of others.
I take this seriously when it comes to character names. I can't begin to calculate the number of chumps I have petitioned in EQ because of stupid names. Call it a personal crusade. |

The fact is that no matter how extensive the naming filter, people will actively work to defeat it. I guess when artificial intelligence reaches the point where it can recognize phonetic misspellings of inappropriate words, we will see some improvement, but until then we'll just have to do the best we can.
I will of course encourage a strict enforcement of the naming policy, but it's a bit early to talk about specific strategies at this point. |

| We intend to vigorously enforce the SOE Naming Policy. You'll find most common fantasy names already in the prohibited filter, and any deliberate variants intended to get around that filter (e.g. Saurruumann) will be dealt with directly. |

| We will have the same naming policy EverQuest does, and it will be enforced with dilligence. |
