There's a possibility I will need to temporarily shut down the forums in the near-ish future. Yeah - I know, sucky.
The thing is this is still an old, unsupported and ultimately insecure version of PHPBB in the backend. My hosting provider is trying to do a security audit and sweep of their systems, and they've identified older versions of PHPBB as being one of their targets. Not that I think there are any major issues in our install, but I don't know that I can justify it to them.
In any case, it will force me to move ahead with my project for bringing back kkthxbye for forums and game blogging and such, and archiving EQII.com and VanguardLive.com for posterity. I plan on making the archives static and very searchable, and I'm going to ~try~ to make the old urls work as much as I can.
So, if you see a note about EQII being temporarily unavailable, do not fret, I'm working!

Yup, we're using the Age Of Destiny (ageofdestiny.com) domain name now. I've got the old domain automatically redirecting here to the new server. There are some complications with getting the eqii.com domain to point here, so this is the quickest way to get it done.
In any case, I've made most of the same changes here on eqii that I did over on VanguardLive. Let me know if you see any problems.
If you have bookmarks or links, please update them to use the www.ageofdestiny.com domainname.
Thanks!

Though I'm still in the middle of crunch time at work, I'm trying to prepare the site for moving to the cheaper server (especially since nobody posts anymore). One of the things I did last night is to clean up any unactivated accounts, and accounts with 0 posts who have not logged in in the last month.
Let me know if I blew anything up.

This isn't really about EQII, because I'm still trying to catch back up on all the EQII happenings, and I'm still designing the new EQII.com in my head.
What I do have to announce is the new GameWatchers.net! We've undergone an almost complete redesign (and we still have more to do), and we hope to start actually posting more frequently! Imagine that!
Those of you still around, let us know what you like or what you dont about the new GameWatchers.net, because many of those features will come here to EQII.com with the redesign.

Thanks again to Kendricke for alerting us to some great new information!
The new year brought us exciting news for EQ2, a new expansion called Kingdom of Sky. Set in the Overrealm, huge floating islands in the sky, we will see Everquest favorites like dragons and aviaks, plus lots of new creatures.
A few screenshots have already been released, and more are sure to come. We have a discussion started in our forums, so take a look and tell us what you think!

Thank you to one of our members Kendricke for quickly posting this new information!
SOE announced details of the next expansion, Kingdom of Sky, earlier this week. In a nutshell, there will be more advancement (not just levels), more dragons, and... PVP! We already have a discussion started here.

So I've done some thinking and here are some of the changes that will come to EQII.com:- Forums: We'll still have forums, but they're going to be simplified, and possibly combined between EQII.com and VGDL.com - I'll merge the userbases where possible and allow for you to choose which theme you prefer. The current forum structure will be preserved, but by a static (searchable) structure so you can browse our sordid history. The new, simpler forums will provide a better, less complicated way to discuss offtopic/rant and rave as well as game specific topics (plus, it'll give me a chance to upgrade the backend).
- Content: I know everyone has been clamoring for some content in the way of guides, quests, item info, etc etc, so I've got a good idea - how about helping us provide that directly by filling out entries in a Wiki? I know some of you know about Wikipedia, and I would be creating the same sort of structure. What I will need is some dedicated people to become editors. Please email me with your applications!
- Features: I've had ideas here and there for other features specific to EQII, but I'm not currently sure if any of them will get done. If you have an idea and are willing to develop a majority of the code, let me know.
Obviously, I've sort of neglected the site, and for that I'm sorry. I've got a couple other things coming down the pipe in the future to expand these game-specific sites, but I think something needs to be done in the interim to move us forward. Let me know what you think, and if you are available to help out!
Thanks from your friendly site guy,
OnyxRaven

Moorgard on the offical forums let everyone know that they added an additional cool feature for the adventure pack.

I also wanted to point out a last-minute cool feature that our designers snuck into the Splitpaw Saga zones. In addition to scaling to your party's average level, most of the zones allow you to choose your level of difficulty. You have three choices:
Normal (only the zone name is shown) - NPCs are scaled to your group's average level.
Difficult - NPCs are scaled two levels higher than your average group level.
Very Difficult - NPCs are scaled five levels higher than your average group level.
Fighting the tougher versions of the zones will increase both the XP you earn and the quality of the treasure. Now you can choose your own level of challenge!
Sorry for the delay on getting the servers back up. We hope to have you experiencing the Splitpaw Saga shortly.
